The Little .410 Westley Richards Droplock returns from Case Colour Hardening.

I showed this gun a few weeks ago in its ‘back from engraving’ state. Here it is again, now with the case colour hardening completed, on the way next week to the finishing shop!

This is decision time, colours either stay on or come off!

  1. I went back to your 6 May post on this gun. It is a tough decision to leave the gun case colored. The engraving looked great without the case coloring. I also like the patina over time (use) of guns that are case colored. Since the coloring is done, if it was my choice, I’d leave it case colored.

  2. Good Day Simon,

Gosh Darn Simon, won’t you ask your followers easy questions, like if we should go to war….etc. What great engraving this is Simon, the rose and scroll is normally not my favorite, but this gun really rocks my boat…so to speak. But I think it is an easy choice, leave the color on this wonderful piece of art!!! My hats off to the family duo for such a great job of engraving, also to whoever did the case coloring, its great. As you may know I look at plenty engraved guns these days Simon, and this gun takes a back seat to no shotgun, I get to see today. Just my humble opinion Sir. Thank for showing the progress, look forward to seeing this gun finished!!

    Vacne,

  3. Difficult choice, the gun looks fantastic in both colour and grey. The stock colour and the amount of fiddle in it will probably make it easier to make a decision. Superb photos.

  4. Simon the Explora has spoken.Sadly the paying customer has no choice in the matter and must accept the inevitable!
